Hugo Sánchez

Hugo went further than anyone in football in Mexico. His achievements were many and widely recognized internationally. It was without doubt the outstanding player of the Mexican international football. A true myth that broke football prestige of the Aztec nation.

One of the most prolific strikers in international football was the Mexican who, unlike many of his compatriots, invaded the Old Continent with installed security forever in the history of Spanish football.

Maybe coming from a country whose players do not usually use the foreign (Mexican soccer league is one of the best paid in the world), the fact is that few believed in the talent of striker Hugo Sanchez Marquez. Both inside and outside of your beautiful and beloved Mexico.

His hiring raised some eyebrows in the offices of Atletico Madrid, the first Spanish club had their services. But his goals Hugo convinced everyone equally. Go if you convinced ...

As they say in the international sports arena, the most famous footballer in

Mexico was born in Mexico City on July 11, 1958. Since childhood showed typical of those who claim to stand boldly. Their sporting skills, specifically related to football, motivated him to seek new horizons carrying the commendable effort to never stop learning, virtue meant only for the true greats.

In 1975 he began his brilliant career with Los Pumas of the Autonomous University of Mexico, where his team won the league in the 1976-77 season devoted and 1980-81 CONCACAF runner-up in 1981 and champion of the Copa Interamericana in 1981 . in 1979, and twice, he alternated his time between this team and the San Diego Sockers of the NASL, American football-soccer league prior to the current MLS.

But it was the year of 1981, full of hope and
courage, when he left for his first Spanish scale, Atletico Madrid. Three years later, in 1984-85, he achieved his dedication to become a creditor, thanks to 19 goals, the prestigious Pichichi trophy for being top scorer in the league. He also won the club mattress King's Cup.

After neighborhood change but not city. Real Madrid, one of the legendary footballing institutions planet, placed their trust in him, and hired him. Hugo, always ready to accept any challenge nobility, rushed into the ring, there, in the heart of Spanish football.

Thus the story of Sanchez in the Real and
therefore, in the Iberian football, became one of the most distinguished foreign as ever walked the fields of the motherland.

With Real was league champions in 1985-86 1986-87 1987-88 1988-89 1989-90 seasons, and champion of the UEFA Cup in 1985-86, Champion Cup in 1988-89 and champion of the 1989 Spain Super Cup, plus the European Golden Boot in the 1989-90 season. In total he scored 162 goals and 4 equaling the Pichichi awards Argentine Alfredo Di Stéfano and Spanish Quini.

Of course, that Hugo merengue team had players of the caliber of Butragueño, Michel, Gordillo, Martin Vazquez and Valdano. Also the most famous Mexican
soccer ambassador had its own nickname: Hugol.

At 33 and already suffering some injuries, played his last season (1991-92) at Real Madrid. But he left football.

He returned home to play in America for a while. Then, back in Spain, he moved near the Real Madrid, the area of Vallecas. There Rayo Vallecano played in the 1993-94 season scoring 16 goals. Net consideration for a humble then set as was the Lightning.

Then he returned home and in 1994-95 he played for Atlante of Mexico. In 1995-96 he did in Linz in Austria. In 1996 for the Dallas Burn in the U.S. and was dismissed from the football wearing the uniform of Celaya, home again. There he shared
with his former teammates from Real, Butragueño and Michel 1996-97.

Logic is a player of this kind can not be away from the national team of his country. In fact, the path of Hugo wearing traditional uniform tricolor was also notable: the youth tournament won the Cannes 1975, the Pan American Championships in Mexico 1975 and 1976 youth tournament in CONCACAF.

With older participated in the World Cup Argentina 78, Mexico 86 and U.S. 94 and I won the second place in the 1993 Copa America in Ecuador.

A worthy and commendable career of this Hugo area. Bold, mischievous, intelligent forehead player opposing defenses. It was quick to define both the passing game and in the definition of middle and long distance.

Proponents paid dearly for their mistakes when Hugo lurking in the area. Acquired importance of three-quarter court zone towards the opponent for being a constant search returns the empty walls. His tumbling celebrating every goal that turned left in the retina of all those who saw him play, live or via television.

Ultimately proved to be a winner, sometimes controversial in his statements but no less compelling when the encounter. Abroad marked a path to their fellow players, perhaps difficult to emulate, but who want ready to go through it.

Amadeo Carrizo

Amadeo Carrizo has been one of the best goalkeepers in history, ahead of his time, heralds a new way of acting under the sticks. He was the first who got used to bow out and play the ball with their feet, as if it were a footballer more. Specialist in the hand to hand, no one used before the goal kick to start the attacks and was one of the pioneers in the use of gloves.

Occasionally allowed to dribble past an opponent, as in 1954 in a classic against Boca. Reed left the area to retrieve a ball before transferring it to a teammate faced Borrello, one of the stars of the xeneizes, and dribbles to the delight of fans of River and stupor of opposing fans. For all that and more, Amadeo is considered the best South American goalkeeper of the twentieth century. A goalkeeper who reinvented seat and came forward to the future. "A Master without time," as defined Figure.

It began with ten years in El Fortin, a small team of his native Rufino, then move to the Buenos Aires Pacific. In these two sets alternated his performances as goalkeeper and striker, until he
was convinced that his future was in goal. His life changed when Hector Berra, a former athlete who participated in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 32, sent a letter to Carlos Peucelle, then coach of the lower River, recommending to Carrizo. That was how the club came that marked his career and which remained as first team goalkeeper for over 500 games.

In that time he shared a dressing room with some of the best Argentine players in history, as Pipo Rossi and Di Stéfano and Muñoz, Moreno, Pederson, Labruna and Loustau, the famous machine.

Independent supporter as a child, his arrival in River changed him and from that moment his heart was only room for the colors of this team. The River debut came with 19 years, precisely against Independiente. River won 2-1 that day and Cervino Camilo went down in history as the author of the first goal conceded that professional Carrizo.

His record is as extensive as bright. The player most games dress the franjirroja shirt and the only goalkeeper who has been champion six times, including three-peat of the years 1955, 1956 and 1957's. He left the company in 1968 with 42, and drained his last two professional seasons in Millonarios of Colombia. On his return to Argentina had a fleeting step as coach of Deportivo Armenian and subsequently linked to continued public relations football as a trademark and River Plate.

His international career was not as bright as that for various reasons rarely acted with Argentina and only participated in the '58 World Cup in Sweden and in the 1964 Copa America.

Tostao

Professional applied Eduardo Gonçalves de Andrade, a professor of semiotics-the study of symptoms of pain in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Belo Horizonte-read on the Internet to their purpose: crack football, said Tostão, born in the mining capital 25 January 1947 and 1970 World Cup hero. was then realized he was locked into an academic life for over 20 years and felt nostalgia itself. At this time he had to stop in his reflections to attend a phone call. A reporter told him politely: "Doctor Eduardo, I know you do not like to talk about his past player, but ...".

- True, it interrupted the doctor, you come to my house tonight and talk about this, please.

At home, he told the reporter he was the son of Osvaldo, banking and Osvaldina,

public employee. And in his childhood in Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais fine, Tostão will be nicknamed as the most often matches her neighborhood street. In this section we would find the Cruzeiro Esporte Clube. Before, Tostão youth of America would Minas Gerais, the equipe heart of his father Osvaldo, then turned pro with Cruzeiro at age 17. So much so that in September 1965, when they opened the stadium Mineirão, he was the playmaker of the team that had Dirceu Lopes, Ze Carlos, Piazza and Raul. The same as in 1966, would beat the mighty Saints Pelé, Carlos Alberto, Zito, Gilmar and company in Brazil Cup, the predecessor of the Brazilian championship.

His performances in the events of Mines and Brazilians brought on 15 May 1966, the senior team in a match against Chile which would tie
one. Since then, Tostão was a classic of the calls, among which the World 66 in England, where he played only one match in defeating Brazil 3-1 to Hungary, but scoring the only goal he canarinho. Such party also was the one who lost Garrincha, chubby and out of shape with Brazil. In contrast, the following year Minas Gerais player to win selection Rio Branco Cup against Uruguay, the tournament in which he appeared with the yellow jersey, his partner Cruzeiro Dirceu Lopes. And in 1968, mark a goal Tostão Russian goalkeeper Lev immortal Yashin, in a game against the FIFA selection in the Maracanã.

But that year, 1968-year exacerbated the Brazilian military dictatorship to own
stupidity, in which students from France defied De Gaulle and the people of Prague democratize socialism would mark the extra-field crack. He, politically aware, was sad to see his frustrated of what he regarded as political and great country greater dignity: freedom. Discreet, our young athlete sympathized with those who fought for a democratic state. Besides using his prestige Tostão never failed to say in favor of and against the country banidos systematic torture of political prisoners. Or you about theses were loved, and I think still are, such as land reform and redistribution of wealth in Brazil.

But his footballing craft tore the ideological debate and replenished in game where Tostão play every game with the national team in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers then. In the field, consistent with their citizenship, was caring, skilful and great creativity, of the smartest country. He looked at it one of the most complete players in the history of football and creating opportunities for his teammates, opponents attracted so easily that it was said he was a great player without the ball. A definition that I never liked. Because with it, with the ball on his foot, Tostão played even better. But the September 24, 1969, in São Paulo against Corinthians, the greatest idol in the history of Cruzeiro hit by a pitch on the left side to the left retina. Both that required surgery, many doubted that he would play. Far from these speculations, the technician João Saldanha parked history with a joke, saying that even with only one eye, Tostão could command the best attack the Jewish General Moshe Dayan, right-wing politician and eminent military strategist of Israel.

Said and done: the artist was summoned to the selection two months after the other. In the preparation phase, the Cruzeiro received a suspicious call, threatening reprisals in their political vision. But not moved and the World, 1970, in the attack with Jairzinho, Pele, Gerson and Rivellino, it became real joke of Saldanha. That right after signing the amazing fifth consecutive championship Minas Gerais with Cruzeiro (65-66-67-68-69). After the title of Mexico, Tostão in Europe would be considered as the most efficient player of the tournament. And his club would use its prestige to bill large sums of dollars touring abroad.

In 1972, when Brazil win the Independence Cup, the idol of Cruzeiro on tour in the Old Continent was angry with the authoritarian Iustrich, newly hired technician. Added to other disagreements with the club, that would cause its output to sign with Vasco da Gama, who paid her a millionaire trapaso. But in Rio, Tostão never be the same and worse by their particular forewarned that your retina doctor worsened, he related that with the fact that he received no salary for months and made the club cruzmaltino justice. As, therefore, insinuate on their mentality, Tostão decided to end his career in 1973. Starting from that date, it disappears from the news and engages in medicine, paying for their education with what I had invested in a service station and sports shop, run by his brothers businesses.

Eduardo Gonçalves de Andrade, Tostão, which was three times top scorer of Minas Gerais campeonatp and played 65 games with the team, scoring 36 goals, had married in the early 70s, of which union would have a son and a daughter. In a new relationship, would also have a girl and a boy. Provider, other than university education, never officiated in the office, preferring to act in the hospital in Belo Horizonte. However, in the late 90s, thanks to the journalist Luciano do Valle, was revealed as television sports commentator. And lucid, objective and intelligent arguments, then it would be taken seriously, then considered one of the most respected men in the sports media in Brazil, where also sign chronicles in newspapers and magazines from which the Folha de São Paulo , the largest country vehicle information, where it shows a thin pen, original quality and sensible review. Among the beauties which we highlight: "The difference between a great player and the other is his ability to invent on the spot suddenly miss a play which nobody had expected.". That extraordinary crack also wrote the book "Lembranças, opiniões and reflexões about futebol" (Memoirs, opinions and thoughts on football), in addition to being honored at the theater "Tostão, gold coin."

In this citizen of democratic convictions, Real Gold Mines, who wanted to unionize football players of his time, a loud burst of clapping.

Oleg Salenko

Any striker dreams of being the top scorer of the World Cup. The funny thing is that sometimes it takes that honor unheralded, a player who has a bright career for the short period of the most important football competition, and it is not uncommon to return to ostracism. But his name will be immortalized and will always be remembered at the time of the last relembrar world.

There is no doubt that the World 94 of the United States has an owner. And his name is Romario. However, the leader of the scoring was not the "Baixinho" which scored five goals. They finished the competition as top scorers Bulgarian Hristo Stoichkov and Russian Oleg Salenko, both with six goals.

While the former can boast of being one of the leading names in the history of Bulgarian football, Salenko even got signed as an important player for his country.

Even more important to say that the race Salenko was marked by a single party,
just a "friendly" in World full 94. As of June 28, 1994, Russia and Cameroon entered the field of stadium of San Francisco and without any chance of qualifying for the knockout stages. Some even said that Cameroonians played the game mentally depleted, not the loss of 3 a0 defeat to Brazil in the previous game, but by the prolonged party that preceded the morning before the last match at the African World .

The Europeans, apparently sober, had not much difficulty in constructing the score of 6 to 1. Salenko's five goals in that game, added to that had marked in defeat for Sweden, Guaranteed top scorer trophy for the Russian front even with your selection not passing the group stage. Besides being one of the best scorers of the World, the Russian set the record for most goals scored by one player in one game of the tournament. Yes it was his lucky day.

Nothing before anything after

If not that game, it would be difficult to remember someone Oleg Salenko.
Removing the Global 94, the forward played just five games limited by Russia dialing only one goal. A curious fact is that they came to make a match for the Ukraine as well.

Born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Salenko began his professional career at Zenit Leningrad, at age 17. Three years later, in 1989, was in Ukraine, there defending Dinamo Kiev, where he lived his prime. Were 48 goals in three seasons with yellow and blue team.

From 1992 to 1994 he was in the humble Logroñes of Spain. After calling the attention of larger clubs for their participation in the World 94 was transferred to Valencia, where he spent only one season and did not leave a mark on the club.

Thereafter he sojourned in clubs like Glasgow Rangers Scottish, Turkish Istanbulspor, the Spanish Cordoba and was fired in Pogon Szczecin, hidden in Polish football. Various knee injuries forced him to hang up his boots earlier than expected, at 32.
